Arriving in Vaasa

Vaasa is conveniently reached by direct flights from Helsinki, Finland (1 hr), Stockholm, Sweden (1 hr), Copenhagen, Denmark (2 hrs) and Riga, Latvia (2 hrs) or by train from Helsinki (4 hrs). The drive from the airport in Vaasa to the city centre takes only 10 minutes. From the airport you will have to take a taxi (15-20 Euros)! There are taxis waiting outside. However, if you need to call, dial +358 60030011.

By train you arrive directly at the city centre. The Hotels are at walking distance: Astor 50 m, Radisson 150 m, Vaakuna 400 m. If you stay at Hotel Tekla (2 km) or Hostel Kenraali (1,5 km), you might want to take a taxi (available at the station).

Pre-conference tour on Sunday

The bus is leaving at 12.00 from Hotel Radisson Blu (only 100 m from Astor and 250 m from Vaakuna). The bus stops at Hotel Tekla, if necessary, at 12.10.

Registration on Sunday and Monday

Sunday, 17.00-19.00: At the Ostrobothnian Museum / Nature centre Terranova, Museokatu / Museigatan 3-4

Monday, 8.00-13.00: At the Conference Venue

Welcome reception on Sunday

At the same place as the registration, i.e., at the Ostrobothnian Museum / Nature centre Terranova, Museokatu / Museigatan 3-4, at 19.00-21.00.

Transports during the Conference

Buses leave from Hotel Radisson Blu to the conference venue, two times in the morning and return two times in the afternoon (30 min interval) on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
On Tuesday, Friday and Saturday buses for the Mid-conference tour and the Post-conference excursions also leave from Radisson Blu.

Languages

Finnish and Swedish are the official languages in Finland. Most people also speak quite good English.
