During the manufacturing of the Twin Otter several modifications were made to its electrical system in order to reduce the electrical noise level. This aircraft has been used since 1980 for aerogeophysical measurements. During over 40 years the GTK and and Karair (1st DHC-operator) , Finnair/Malmilento (2nd), and Finnish Aviation Academy (3rd) have succesfully completed over 2 millions of line kilometres in aerogeophysical survey operation, mainly for mapping and subsequent mineral exploration programmes.
