Method

The exploration methods used within the UpDeep service are looking at exogenic geochemical signals from deeply buried mineralization. The signal can be observed by sampling soil or plant tissue material that work as a trap and accumulate the elements migrating from the bedrock source upward to the surface. To be able to see the exogenic signal in the selected soil horizon, the collected sample must be dissolved with a weak leach in the laboratory. The stronger the leach used for the sample preparation, the more of the endogenic signal will be seen in the results. There are several mechanisms that can cause the migration of elements from bedrock up through the soil profile and through the root system of plants, these mechanisms are described in various articles in detail (Hale 2000, Aspandiar et al. 2008, Anand et al. 2016).

  • Direct geochemical signal from sub cropping or buried mineralization in the bedrock through the transported cover
  • Environment-friendly, low impact sampling methods
  • Easy and quick sampling
  • Wide range of commercial analytical methods for different
sample materials with relative low cost
  • Light permission process

”In UpDeep project a streamlined method is beeing developed all the way from survey planning, through field activities and data interpretation to final reporting”
