Since 1977 the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy (IAGA ) has invited its member organizations to provide magnetic anomaly maps and data for a World scale compilation.

Atthe General Assembly 2004 in Florence Commission of the Geological Map of the World (CGMW )initiated co-operation of compilation.

AttheGeneral Assembly 2006 of CGMWin Parisa tentative map was presented and a resolution was given to contribute.

Working groupto produceWorld Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map (WDMAM) was established at IAGA 2005 in Toulouse. It invites all interestested to take part.
