EXPLORATION LAPLAND 3D – XL3D PROJECT SEMINAR
In the seminar, the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) presents outcomes of the Exploration Lapland 3D (XL3D) project. The XL3D project generated a data integration, 3D modelling, and prospectivity modelling concept and workflow for mineral exploration. The concept was tested in Central Lapland area using existing geological, geophysical and geochemical data including new reflection seismic and audiomagnetotellurics data collected in GTK during 2017-2018 from the Sodankylä and Kittilä areas. As a result a new regional and local 3D geological and geophysical models were generated from the study area. The data integration and modelling results were implemented in generation of new, updated prospectivity maps for orogenic Au and magmatic Ni-Cu deposit types.
The XL3D project is funded by Business Finland EU Regional Development Fund program “Sustainable Growth and Jobs 2014-2020” program and by the industry. Business Finland funded 88% and companies 12% of the total of 504 000 euro budget for 2017-2020.
