Project goals
Primary goal is to produce new data and knowledge to improve mineral exploration in Northern Finland:
- By creating a prototype of an online service in which a batch of diamond drill cores will comprise a digital core archive showcasing especially optical and infrared drill core imagery (hyperspectral data).
- By studying selected bedrock samples from Central Lapland utilising hyperspectral imaging technique aiming to improve the practical aid gained from the method for day-to-day exploration.
Other goals are
- To promote the digitalization of Finnish national drill core archives (→ one objective in the GTK's strategy).
- To review the opportunity to build a new consultancy service on hyperspectral imaging.
The results and public documents produced by the project will be available here.
