Efficient use of natural stone in the Leningrad region and South-East Finland

ENPI stone project promotes more efficient use of natural stone in city environments in St Petersburg, Leningrad region and South-East Finland

The project highlights the variety of local natural stones, the historical use and present possibilities, as well as the advantages of using local stone materials. The project studies durability of local and historically used natural stones in the project area and produces guidance for selecting stone materials for construction and renovation in the Nordic climate. It also seeks new possibilities for the use of left-over stone of natural stone industry. The project evaluates natural stone resources in the project area and produces guidelines for best evaluation methods of natural stone occurrences. The project gives recommendations for harmonization of natural stone trade practices and regulations in technical and material issues.
